Kiana Cummings, M.Ed., LPC has years of experience working with a diverse population of pre-adolescents, adolescents, and adults in various settings. These settings include intensive in-home therapy, long-term residential for adolescents, crisis stabilization unit, and outpatient. Kiana received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from George Mason University and worked in Military psychology and cognitive development research for years while obtaining higher education in behavioral health. She received her Masters’ degree in Counseling and Development from George Mason University.
Kiana is a passionate and collaborative therapist who uses empathy and compassion to provide a safe place for clients to share. Kiana utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)/attachment theory, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in therapy. In addition, she has completed additional training in perinatal mood disorders, the military population, and depression in adolescence. Her area of focus includes military (service members and families) anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, alternative lifestyles, and life transitions (including pregnancy and birth, attending college, dating).
