Youyang Wang, M.A., is a doctoral student in clinical psychology with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from various cultural backgrounds. She is dedicated to addressing psychological needs through a culturally informed, psychodynamic approach. Youyang views psychotherapy as collaborative work for an individual to understand themselves and achieve personal growth. She offers an empathetic and reflective environment where clients can explore a wide range of issues, including life transitions, relational conflicts, and emotional challenges. By working together, Youyang and her clients explore the underlying patterns and foster self-awareness to promote an integrative sense of self.
Youyang received her B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College, followed by an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University. She is currently pursuing her Psy.D. in Professional Psychology at George Washington University. Her clinical training includes externships at the Center Clinic and St. Albans School in Washington, DC, where she provided psychotherapy and psychological assessments for diverse populations. Youyang has worked in various settings, including hospitals, schools, and outpatient clinics, both in the United States and China. In schools and outpatient clinics, Youyang has provided psychoeducation and conducted individual and group therapy for children and adolescents with diagnoses of mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, conduct disorder, selective mutism, and autism spectrum disorder. As a psychotherapist at a women and children’s hospital in China, Youyang provided psychological screening, psychoeducation and engaged in individual psychotherapy with perinatal women and their families.
Youyang has experience addressing a range of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), selective mutism, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), trauma, and relational concerns.
