Minsoo Khang, M.Ed., Resident in Counseling, has experience providing mental health services to diverse populations and is committed to tailoring her treatment to meet clients’ needs.
Minsoo holds a Master of Education in Counseling from Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea, where she was trained in a scientist-practitioner model. She received her bachelor of arts in Comparative Human Development at the University of Chicago. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education at The George Washington University. She is passionate about providing individuals and families a non-judgmental and confidential perspective that is grounded in up-to-date research and knowledge in evidenced-based practice related to psychopathology, attachment and personality.
Minsoo offers individual counseling to clients dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, major life transitions and career concerns. She creates a supportive and culturally responsive environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts and emotions, utilizing a strength-based and solution-focused approach grounded in positive psychology. Minsoo’s counseling experience spans university counseling centers and community clinics, where she has gained skills in conducting intake assessments and administering psychological testing. Minsoo also provides counseling for high school and college students struggling with academic life and language and culturally congruent services to the Korean speaking population.
In addition to her clinical work, Minsoo is active in research, with publications on grief and trauma following the Sewol ferry disaster. Minsoo is also an adjunct lecturer at The George Washington University, teaching courses on trauma, crisis intervention, and the social and cultural dimensions of counseling. She also serves on the editorial boards of
The Asian Journal of Social Science and School Psychology International.
